Bio
As a classroom teacher in the Quakertown Community School District (PA) with over 15 years of experience in the reading and social studies classroom, Shawn continues to learn and be the best educator possible. He is a teacher, blogger, coach, husband and proud parent of three. Shawn has received numerous recognition for his work with young people, most recently the 2012-2013 School Year - Best Use of Videos and Media Edublogs Award for his work with Virtual Homework Debates. Shawn's classes were just recently highlighted in a PBS documentary on technology in the classroom which is scheduled to air in September 2015. As a teacher, Shawn incorporates technology in ways that will help his students learn and achieve at the highest levels possible- through Mystery Skypes, Google Hangouts, blogging and social media. Shawn feels that these tools help to solidify what is really important in the classroom of today - building relationships. Shawn holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology/Elementary Education from Moravian College (PA) and a Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist from Kutztown University (PA).
